McLaughlin Transportation Systems

We were living in New Hampshire and had a planned move to AL. We booked service with the company 4-5 months ago and had everything confirmed. The plan was to have the team come one day to pack and then another day to finish packing and load the truck.

Come the day before packing, I received a call asking for permission to have the team come one day only instead of two. I granted this permission on the basis everything was completed as we were leaving town on Friday. On Thursday, the team arrived an hour late and with only 2 men. The team told us that the dispatch team did not want to spend money to have them come out on Wednesday and had given them the day off. I then received a phone call after the team started working on Thursday from dispatch asking to finish Friday morning and I told Hans, no, we were leaving on Friday.

Hans, the dispatcher, then proceeded to call my apartment complex and ask them for access. This is completely unacceptable from a client perspective. After I told my apartment no and Hans no, I then received a phone call from the local company “owner”. They said they had issues from rain to heat to operational errors and could not commit to more people or that they would be able to finish on Friday. He was extremely rude and abrupt while offering zero solutions other than asking us to change our travel plans to accommodate the company.

These are just the highlights from the story and not to mention we had to move our own boxes and take a couch down the stairs to move on time. The fact that we paid the team almost $10,000 to essentially move ourselves is astounding.

There was zero accountability and multiple service failures. After all of this, they changed our move from direct to indirect causing us a delay in receiving our items and only notified us 1 day in advance removing any opportunity to change companies.

To say will ensure no one we know uses this company is an understatement.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $8900

I spent over $4000 to move less than a one bedroom apartment across the country, and it was absolutely the worst decision I have ever made in my entire life. The whole process was a nightmare, and the service I received from Lori Bellavance was the worst customer service I've experienced. Lori was completely unresourceful and frankly, she just didn’t care when things started to go wrong, and she claimed no responsibility at all.

The crew that loaded my items stacked boxes with the heaviest items on top of light weight items, and they fraudulently documented all of my brand new heavy duty boxes as "crushed", "soiled" and, "badly worn". Most of my things were new and not damaged at all before this move.

My delivery was already scheduled to take 2 weeks, and it ended up taking almost 3 weeks. Lori Bellavance had no answers for me when she told me my delivery was going to be delayed and argued with me on the phone, ultimately hanging up on me. When I finally called the agency at my delivery location, they had solid answers and an estimated delivery day for me, while all Lori could say was "I don’t know, it's out of my control". Lori ended up making this already stressful process, a thousand times more stressful.

When I finally had my things delivered, most of my boxes had been ripped apart, and my luggage was not wrapped or protected and ended up getting ruined. When I notified Lori that the loading crew at her agency had lied about the condition of my items, and did not take care to load my items appropriately, she had no apology and claimed no responsibility on behalf of the loading crew.

Please, if you are considering using Mayflower, specifically McLaughlin… don’t be fooled by Lori's fake pleasantness at the initiation of the process. As soon as things go wrong, she will do nothing to help you and she will easily become argumentative if you ask too many questions, or if you bring attention to something that is wrong (such as fraudulently documenting brand new items as "soiled", "crushed" and, "badly worn").

This experience has convinced me to never use another moving company again. If you need something done right, do it yourself… and certainly do not trust McLaughlin Transportation Systems

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $4000

Sleazeball is the only word to describe this company!
They charged us $25,000 to move my elderly mother and severely disabled father, they broke and lost prized possessions that belonged to our family since early 1900's! On top of everything they lied to me when I repeatedly asked if my mother's move was paid in full and told me it was. Heather Pfau gave me her word that we were paid in full and we would not receive any more bills. But now we are being charged $2548 more!! The owner, Marty McLaughlin, says it is for the third party company they hired to deliver. So apparently moves with this company don't include delivering your belongings!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Service cost: $25000

We hired these people to move us from Massachusetts to California and it was a horrible experience! They promised us that our belongings would be carefully packed and moved in crates but it was far from what happened.
First, the very disgruntled guys came to pack our things and this was done poorly so we had many things broken. Then they stole a pair of prescription glasses and McLaughlin's response was that I should file a claim with the local police department and they weren't responsible.
When our things arrived in California we had extensive damage to many things like our leather sectional, bookshelf, and brand new dining room set. We purchased additional insurance which was a waste of money. The damage claim form was submitted with pics of everything and we waited 6 weeks for them to tell us that they were paying for only a few things and we weren't being compensated for the damaged sectional, dining room set and $0 for my stolen glasses.
This company will NOT hold up to their word and don't let these people touch your precious belongings. There are many other good moving companies, stay away from these crooks.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6800

Their moving "plan" was a huge problem. The movers were unaware that they had 3 stops (pick up at storage, old office, new office) for our move that day and did not arrive at the first stop until 2.5 hours AFTER they were supposed to be there.
This is a business that was being moved. When I first spoke to a rep at the company, I was told that they know right where they were stopping first, second and finally the address of the last stop. I repeated the plan for our move on numerous occasions to Lori. The first stop at the storage unit, then on to our office, then to our new location 2.5 miles north of that location

It was the company's error that the movers were not sent to the correct location. The work order I saw did not even list the first address as the first stop! I spoke with Lori on numerous occasions the morning of the move trying to get your movers to the correct location. Most of her responses included, oh, they're not there yet? They are just a few miles away..

It wasn't until the driver and I spoke directly via cell phone that they even knew they were supposed to be at the first stop. And even after my first contact with the driver, who said he was 1.5 miles up the road, I waited an additional 40 minutes for them to arrive at the correct location.

When I contacted the owner, Marty McLauglin, he played dumb, didn't know what I was talking about. And, when I followed up with him with our request for partial reimbursement, he simply ignored my 4 emails inquiries.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. SO UNPROFESSIONAL.

Move size: Office Move Service cost: $826

Unable to rate as a “ZERO”, but the packing process was the most stressful and awful experience we have ever had moving. McLaughlin Transportation Systems invites you to give them feedback as they “strive for 5”, but it has been over a month with absolutely ZERO response in regards to our complaints and concerns. Advice - STEER CLEAR of this “company” that is unprofessional and lack consideration for the families who entrust all of their household goods to them. Had it not been for the courteous driver and meticulous local move crew (neither driver nor movers were connected with McLaughlin), we are certain that most of our belongings would have been damaged. Our move was a great disappointment - thanks for caring McLaughlin.
